Crest
The bamboo circlet, bezant and feathered arrow shafts charged with three red bands, adapted from the flag of the Republic of Vietnam, represent the swift reaction and pinpoint accuracy needed within the confines of an unprepared landing zone and commemorate the battle of Rach Kien near Can Duoc for which the predecessor organization, the 9th Aviation Battalion, received the Valorous Unit Award. The five feathered arrow shafts further allude to the combined group of decorations earned by the 9th Aviation Battalion.
The coat of arms was originally approved for the 9th Aviation Battalion on 5 May 1966. It was amended to add a crest on 20 November 1973. The insignia was redesignated for the 9th Aviation Regiment with the symbolism revised effective 16 December 1987.
